A precursor to my latest video, Young Dreams. Young Dreams is about accepting responsibility and knowing the difference between never wanting to grow up and having a youthful sensibility. Skateboarding is the perfect medium for projecting this lesson. No man’s life is complete without tribulation and there is hardly a sport in the world that comes with as many obstacles as skateboarding, in both a literal and metaphoric sense. In New Orleans the skate scene has bloomed immensely in the past few years sparking hundreds of kids to pick up boards. The pleasure exhibited by these kids is reciprocated by older individuals who still skateboard or are otherwise still involved in skateboarding culture. Our ultimate goal should be to maintain relations with the younger generation and be able to enjoy the things they enjoy while being considered no less than men.
I’m having an exhibit of some of my photography at re:fresh sneaker boutique on June 16th. Please come out and enjoy some of latest work and a performance by Baton Rouge artist Luke St John.
Some photos of Baton Rouge rapper Luke St. John at Oral Fixation, a hip-hop show at Northgate Tavern on LSU’s campus. Tomorrow night will be another edition of Oral Fixation featuring artist Marz The Superior. Check it out, roll through.
The Greatest of Secrets
The man behind Tall Tale has thus far managed to keep his identity very secret. i am constantly made known of the fact that people who know of Mike Gnar are not familiar with him beyond the stories he produces with his garments. Perhaps it is best that way. After all, the greatest stories have no faces.
ENJOY THE RAY
The Twins
Kevin and Kendrick are two of the funniest kids to skate with. They’re constantly making fun of each other and the other skaters. Plus they’re always fresh as shit.
Justin Gordon.
Gordon has been killing shit lately. He’s sponsored by Suhteevuh Grip company, and is a regular at Humidity Skate Shop. After putting out his last part in This Shit Right Here, Justin is out there skating every day whether there is a camera out or not. He’s living out the dream and staying true to the New Orleans skate scene. He likes to steal my style though. We wear the same shoe size. That last part has nothing to do with anything, I just wanted to throw it in there.
Check out Gordon in:
If you ever pay attention you will see things like this around Louisiana State University’s campus. Non-violent offenders are often leased out to do work like the landscaping around this and most likely numerous other college campuses. That is where things like this come into play. the prison industrial complex is alive and well and works very smoothly in the state of Louisiana.
